Chest Nodule Detection

Chest Nodule Detection

Description

In a randomized controlled trial involving 10,476 participants undergoing health checkups, AI-based computer-aided detection (CAD) software significantly improved the detection rate of actionable lung nodules on chest radiographs compared to standard radiograph interpretation. The AI group showed a higher detection rate for both actionable and malignant lung nodules, with the odds of detecting actionable nodules being 2.4 times greater than in the non-AI group. The false-referral and positive-report rates were similar between the AI and non-AI groups, highlighting the effectiveness of AI in enhancing lung nodule detection without increasing false positives.
